Plumas County Museum Association presents Grave Occasion Sept. 21

The Plumas County Museum Association announces that this year’s annual Grave Occasion cemetery tour and dinner, “Apparitions and Superstitions,” will be held at the historic Quincy Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 3 p.m. to dusk. This year marks the 13th iteration of this fundraising event.

Sites throughout the cemetery will feature local actors re-creating the lives, challenges, deaths and stories of several of Plumas County’s notable citizens, including Plumas County’s longest-serving sheriff, the executive vice president of Indian Valley Bank, a former congressman and bootlegger, a prosperous woman rancher and an antisaloon movement attorney.

At the conclusion of the cemetery program, guests will pass on to the Morrison Barn for the evening’s dinner and program. A silent auction will also be held during the event. Organizers say tickets for this event are going fast, so they encourage those who plan to attend to visit the museum or contact them at 530-283-6320 for purchasing options. Tickets are limited, and cost $55 for museum association members and $65 for nonmembers.

The Plumas County Museum is located at 500 Jackson St. in Quincy. Tickets are also available online.
