Jean Marie Thomas Rose passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 14, 2024, at her home in Largo, Florida. She was 59 years young.
Jean is survived by her son Nicholas James Rose, Templeton, California; granddaughter/adopted daughter Kaytlin Marie Rose, Clearwater, Florida; sisters Lynn Thomas Novi (Mark), Janice Thomas (Kristin Bauer), Darlene Demoret Arzillo (Mark); ex-husband Michael Rose; granddaughter Abigail; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She is welcomed in heaven by her parents James Donald and Janet Joy Thomas.
Jean was born on Oct. 10, 1964, in Quincy, California, to James Donald and Janet Joy Thomas. She was the second oldest of three girls until her best friend, sister Darlene, joined the family in 1980, and the family of five became six. Jean graduated from Quincy Jr. – Sr. High School in 1982 and attended beauty college in Chico, California, with sister Darlene, to start her career as a stylist. She married childhood friend Michael Rose in 1985 and moved to Paso Robles. On June 19, 1986, she gave birth to her son, Nick. In the late 80s, her family moved to Clearwater, Florida, to join sister Darlene and her family.
Jean was passionate about her family and loved ones. She never met a stranger and built a circle of amazing friends and family in Florida who loved and supported her. In the last few years, Jean lived with her dear friends Tony and Ms. Kay Chinkan and was hired as a receptionist with Clarkson Eyecare. She so loved her job and her work family, and formed an amazing bond with her boss Jason (Doc), and wife Gail Rosenfeld. She also had a house-sitting side gig and loved taking care of her many fur babies. Jean loved hard, laughed a lot, and shared her vivacious personality without apology.
In 2022, Jean was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Never one to shy away from adversity, she started treatment. Even though it took a toll on her physically, Jean never lost her positivity; her faith in God kept her going.
Jean was so excited to come home in October to celebrate her 60th birthday with her family. She made her plans and bought her plane tickets. God had other plans and called her home to Heaven. We are comforted knowing she’s at peace and hanging out with Dad and Mom and her many family, friends, and pets.
To honor Jean, our family asks you to join us to celebrate her 60th birthday and a life well done on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Quincy, California. Stop by and share some memories, hugs, laughter, and a few tears. Jean would say, “It’s all good.”
Our family appreciates the outpouring of love, support, and condolences to help heal our broken hearts. To plant trees in her memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
