The Plumas Underburn Cooperative announces it will be holding a meeting Thursday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m.
The meeting will be held in Thompson Valley near Quincy at Jeff Greef’s new property. He will be discussing an underburn he plans to host/lead this fall. He will also show participants the recently completed “water buffalo” — trailer with water tank and pump — that the group says will be an “awesome asset” to PUC burning in the future.
The meeting location is on West View Way, accessed by heading east from Quincy on Highway 70, turning left onto Old Highway Road 0.3 miles past the Plumas Animal Welfare Society animal shelter, driving past five houses on the left and turning left onto West View Way (unmarked road). Participants will park 200 yards down West View Way. The location is also available to view on Google Maps.
Organizers say those attending will do some walking and talking, and are encouraged to bring a camp chair and good walking shoes or boots. Greef will provide snacks and refreshments.
PUC meetings are open to anyone who is interested in prescribed fire and wants to learn more about using it in the local community. No experience is necessary. Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of the month. More information about the group is available at https://plumasunderburn.org/.
