Wild Pines Shop announces the return of its highly anticipated Meet the Makers artisan fair for the third year, reports owner Liz Swindell. This celebration of local artists and crafters is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Art Yard behind Wild Pines in Graeagle.
“This artisan fair is a unique opportunity for the community to gather and support the talent that thrives in our region,” said Swindell. This year, she said she is proud to host 19 artists from neighboring communities, including Taylorsville, Meadow Valley, Quincy, Cromberg, Sloat, Graeagle, Clio, Truckee, Portola and Reno. Each of these artists is currently selling wares at the shop. Swindell promises that attendees will have the chance to enjoy a diverse selection of artistic styles and purchase one-of-a-kind creations directly from the makers themselves in a beautiful outdoor setting.
The event includes the following highlights:
- Music from Graeagle’s JD McBurger and bluegrass tunes from the Red Bridge Ramblers.
- Fun for the whole family, featuring creativity and entertainment for all.
- Artist interaction, with a chance to learn about the creative processes.
- Support for local artisans through purchase of goods in the local creative economy.
- Prize giveaway supporting Plumas Arts. Each artist will donate a piece to the giveaway, and all proceeds benefit Plumas Arts’ Artists in the Schools programming. Plumas Arts representatives will be on site to facilitate ticket sales and talk about their programs.
“We are very excited to host our Meet the Makers artisan fair for the third year running,” said Swindell. “Each of these makers sells their work at the shop and this event is designed to be a thank you to all of them — a celebration! This year we are welcoming the largest group of artists and makers that we have had yet and it’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, appreciate the immense talent in our region, and acquire exceptional, locally crafted goods.”
