EPHC celebrates new portable shelter systems

Eastern Plumas Health Care announces it is celebrating the award of three shelter systems thanks to the Test and Treat Equity grant from the California Department of Public Health.

For this occasion, the public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting event held during EPHC’s onsite deployment training Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. at 500 First Ave. in Portola. Tours and refreshments will be provided for this event.

EPHC says the significance of this award is substantial because the portable structures are multipurpose: they can function for disaster response and health emergencies alike. These central command centers will serve Plumas and Sierra counties should a controlled environment be needed outside or in addition to the medical facilities.

Community members are invited to mark their calendars and plan to join the celebration. For more information about the ribbon-cutting event or the shelters, contact EPHC Program Manager Joanna Garneau at 530-832-6632.
