Seneca Healthcare District announces it offers ultrasound services with Monica Pitlock, a registered diagnostic medical sonographer with an obstetrics and gynecology specialty, available every Wednesday through Friday.
Pitlock, who grew up in Greenville, began her career as a certified phlebotomist before discovering her passion for ultrasound. She graduated from a diagnostic sonography program over three years ago and has been working full time at Oroville Hospital while also working on a per-diem basis at Seneca Healthcare District for the past two years.
“I love working at Seneca because it brings me closer to home and I get to help my community,” said Pitlock. “Ultrasound has been a lifelong passion of mine, and to be able to share my passion with my community brings me such joy.”
Ultrasound is a noninvasive imaging technique that creates images of the body’s internal structures and organs, says SHD. During an ultrasound exam, a trained sonographer or ultrasound technologist uses a small handheld device, which is applied to the skin. Ultrasound is widely used to diagnose various medical conditions, including pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, abdominal and pelvic disorders and musculoskeletal injuries. It is a safe, painless and radiation-free imaging method that provides valuable diagnostic information to healthcare providers.
“We are excited to have a new ultrasound machine for our services,” said Brady Haynes, SHD chief operating officer. “The combination of Monica’s expertise and the new equipment will enhance the services we offer our patients.”
Appointments with Pitlock are available by calling 833-227-3743. Seneca Healthcare District is located at 130 Brentwood Drive in Chester.
