Meeting addresses changes in Quincy burning rules

Quincy Firewise Community organizers invite all friends and neighbors to their monthly meeting Oct. 23, 5 p.m. at the West End Theatre.

Participants will hear about how changes in the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District open burning rules will affect those living in Quincy, East Quincy and American and Thompson valleys.

Greg Kinne, Quincy Firewise lead, and Julie Hunter, NSAQMD executive director, will both be on hand to guide the audience through the questions and concerns that led to the changes in the open burning rules. They will outline the specific changes related to burn permits and how stringent requirements are in place to protect the community from hazardous smoke and unsafe burning practices.

Most importantly, say organizers, Kinne and Hunter will share ways that community members can receive assistance and guidance for safe and clean individual and neighborhood burn projects.
