Mitchell Wayne Kidder Sr., 72, of Quincy, California, passed away peacefully Oct. 25, 2024, in Grantsville, Maryland.
Mitchell was born June 18, 1952, in Greenville, California, to Ruth and George Kidder Sr., and moved to Quincy, California, as a child. He graduated from Quincy Junior-Senior High School and was a hardworking man who provided for his family. After long days working 10- to 12-hour shifts as a forklift driver at Sierra Pacific Industries, he would still make time for his family. He was a man of love, patience and thoughtfulness.
His sense of humor and ability to make others smile and laugh was a big part of what made him who he was. Mitchell was a man of many talents, had a beautiful voice, sang in bands as well as played multiple instruments. He could draw cartoon characters with perfect precision. He loved being a father and husband and was never too tired to show up for his family. He taught his kids how to be resilient, strong, hardworking, loving and compassionate. He will forever be missed, but his lessons, love, and spirit will remain with us always.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his father, George Kidder Sr. He is survived by his mother Ruth Kidder; brothers Daniel and George Kidder Jr.; sister Darcele Kidder; daughters Shelly Kidder, Cassie Kidder and finance Thomas Toews; son Mitchell Wayne Kidder II and wife Glorianne Kidder; grandchildren Eliot and Kyler Russell, Eire and Ely Walker, and great-grandchild Lola Russell. He is loved dearly by his nieces Angela Walters, Olivia Kidder, Marcy Wright, and nephews Mark Kidder, Kallen Kidder, Kye Kidder, Nicholas Kidder, Josh Kidder and Jeremiah Kidder.
A Celebration of Life is planned and will take place in the spring of 2025, with the date to be announced.
