The High Sierra Parent Conference announces “Parent Connection and Coaching with Rhonda Wayson” — a free workshop for parents focused on responsiveness, positive communication, trust-building, navigating strong emotions and using positive discipline. Facilitator Rhonda Wayson has her Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and has been supporting children, parents and families for 30 years, organizers said.
The event is planned for Nov. 16 at the Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy. The training is free to attend. Childcare and travel reimbursements are available for families with children aged 0 to 4 years. Registration is required.
The day begins with breakfast served at 8:30, with the training to follow from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Organizers report that there will also be a prize drawing, children’s books and other giveaways.
The High Sierra Parent Conference is produced as a collaboration between Plumas County Children’s Council, Sierra Cascade Family Opportunities (Head Start), Plumas Rural Services, Child Care Resource and Referral, Plumas STARS, First 5 Plumas, Feather River College Child Development Center and the Plumas County Early Education and Child Care Council.
