Kayla Rae Irwin

Feb. 16, 1996 - Oct. 12, 2024

Kayla Rae Irwin of Quincy passed away in the early morning hours of Oct. 12, 2024, from complications of Juvenile Huntington’s disease. She was at home, surrounded by family and friends.

Kayla was born in San Diego and moved to Quincy in 2011. She graduated from Quincy Junior-Senior High School in 2014 and attended classes at Feather River College. She always made friends easily and had a fun, mischievous personality. Kayla was athletic, smart, and beautiful. She loved her family, friends, the outdoors, Harry Potter books and movies, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Though JHD took so much from her, it is fair to say that she fought it with strength and courage until the end.

In addition to her family and friends, Kayla had the love and support of the Quincy community. To the medical staff at Plumas District Hospital, the Huntington’s specialists at the UC Davis Center of Excellence, Quincy Home Medical Services, Quincy Fire Department and ambulance crews, Plumas Community Hospice, Rite-Aid, and Quincy Pharmacies, we would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all, from her and from us. It is hard to overstate how much it has meant to us.
