Caltrans District 2 reports that State Route 70 through the Feather River Canyon will reopen without traffic controls Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. through the holiday weekend.
Two major slides brought down about 2,500 yards of debris, including some boulders that weighed more than 100,000 pounds, Caltrans reported. Contractors are working to have the roadway reopened with one-way traffic control by the evening of Nov. 26.
After the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, one-way traffic control will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily while crews work to stabilize the slopes.
