Fire Safe Council honors High Sierra Fire, Inc.

The Plumas County Fire Safe Council has announced its newest Fire Safe Recognition recipient: High Sierra Fire Inc. The award identifies and publicly acknowledges outstanding fire safety accomplishments in Plumas County.

Tommy Brenzovich nominated High Sierra Fire Inc., and a subcommittee of the Fire Safe Council’s board of directors supported the nomination. The Janesville company has made tremendous contributions to wildfire preparedness through its work with the community and its dedication to the Plumas County community’s welfare.

High Sierra Fire has won the Senior Disabled Defensible Space contract for the last several years. The company’s high quality work consistently reflects its 20-plus years in fire suppression, fuels management and defensible space. During follow-up visits, the crew’s work regularly exceeds expectations. The partnership with Jerry Vice and his crew has resulted in steadily increasing defensible space treatments year on year.

Each year, the program manager receives many emails, phone calls and handwritten notes praising the crew and the work they perform. Crew members are regularly mentioned by name, and some clients seem to have their favorites.

The company’s work is important for Plumas County communities for more than enhanced wildfire resilience. High Sierra Fire also provides program participants with a sense of comfort and security they may not otherwise not enjoy due to inability to maintain their own defensible space or a lack of financial means to pay for the work.

The nomination process and guidelines are available on the PCFSC website, under the recognition tab. Certificate of recognition recipients can be any person, business or community acting to help reduce wildfire losses.

There are many outreach programs for assistance opportunities and fire preparedness. For more information on all Fire Safe Council programs, please visit the PCFSC website.
