Quincy Rotary invites students to enter speech contest

The Quincy chapter of Rotary International announces that its annual speech contest is set for Monday, Feb. 10, at noon.

The contest is open to Quincy Junior-Senior High School and Plumas Charter School students in grades nine through 12. The 2025 theme is “The Magic of Rotary – How have you or how will you ‘Work YOUR Magic’ in your own community in one or more of the seven areas that Rotary supports?”

The event will be held at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds’ Mineral Building, where students will address a panel of judges as well as Quincy Rotary members.

Prizes will be awarded to winners in first, second and third place. The first-place winner will go on to compete for additional recognition at the regional and District 5190 competitions, with additional rewards for excellence.

Applications are available at both Quincy High, from Erica Purdue, and Plumas Charter, from Melissa Washburn, or by contacting Steve Hill at [email protected]. Completed applications may be submitted to Hill electronically, or mailed to Rotary Speech Contest, P.O. Box 98, Meadow Valley, CA, 95971.
