Full Moon Howlers, FRLT offer moonlit hike

The Feather River Land Trust and the Graeagle Full Moon Howlers are planning a free, family-friendly hike Jan. 12. Meet at the Sierra Valley Preserve’s West Entrance at 3 p.m.

The group will set out on the Botanical Trail in time for moonrise at 3:37 p.m., going as far as the Bulson House before returning via the Bluff Trail to catch the sunset just before 5 p.m. The two-mile hike is suitable for hikers of all experiences, though the footing may be a bit uneven at times.

Planners advise dressing in layers to keep warm in the cold weather. Hikers also need to bring water and their preferred hiking gear.

After the hike, the Nature Center will be open for hot coffee, tea and cocoa, as well as conversation with friends. Parents must accompany youth under 16 years old, and participants must complete the liability waiver form provided with their email confirmation. Register online at the FRLT website.
