Sharon Lynn Wakeland, a beloved resident of Lake Almanor, was born June 25, 1962, at March Air Force Base. She passed away peacefully Jan. 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Sharon dedicated her career to serving others as a law enforcement dispatcher with the Gridley Police Department and the California Highway Patrol. In her retirement, she continued to care for others as a physical therapy aide. Her unwavering commitment to service and her kindness left a profound and lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 35 years, Drew Wakeland, and her children Lindsey, Blake, and Diane, as well as her treasured brothers Todd and John, and sister Jonita. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren Rae, Callie, Sydney, Katelyn, and Adonis, who were the light of her life. Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rita Lemley.
To all who knew her, Sharon was more than a friend; she was a guiding light and a second mother. Her home was always open and her heart was even more so. Sharon treated everyone with kindness and unwavering respect, leaving an imprint of generosity and care that extended far beyond her immediate family.
She found peace and joy on the water, whether it was the salty embrace of the ocean or the calm ripples of a freshwater lake. These moments reflected her deep connection to nature and her ability to savor life’s simple and beautiful pleasures.
Sharon’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and strength. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like they were part of her family, and her nurturing spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is deeply missed, her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
