Calvin Ray Moss

March 21, 1954 – Jan. 6, 2025

Calvin Ray Moss (Cal) passed away unexpectedly at his home in Quincy Jan. 6, 2025. He is survived by his wife Kay, of 48 years; two sons, Joshua and Jacob; and four granddaughters. Calvin is preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Cleo; niece, Amy; and brother, Carl.

Cal was born to Helen and Cleo Moss in Sacramento, California, March 21, 1954. Originally from Oklahoma, Cleo and Helen moved to California from Oklahoma to escape the Dust Bowl and start a family. Once settled in California, they bought a home where they raised two sons, Calvin and Carl. They stayed in the same house until they passed away.

Calvin was a dedicated husband and father. He always took an active role in raising his children, including coaching Little League, creating pinewood derby cars, and teaching them to hunt and fish. For 40 years, Calvin was a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. lineman throughout the Central Valley and northern California. He eventually took a position at the PG&E Academy, where he passed his knowledge and safety practices on to the new generation of linemen.

Cal will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A funeral was held at Blair Mortuary Jan. 24, followed by a graveside service and wake.
