The Rotary Club of Portola honored Rachael and Tim Brubaker with a Distinguished Service Award at its meeting Jan. 21. Rotary recognizes community members who exhibit Rotary International’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
The Brubakers have dedicated themselves to community building and to supporting generations of children. For 43 years, Rachael directed the Portola Preschool, teaching, inspiring and preparing young students students to enter kindergarten fully engaged.
The couple are mainstays at many Portola events, selflessly dedicating their time to students, athletes and community. The annual Vel Brubaker Scholarship, which they established, goes to a graduating senior from Portola High School. From preschool through college, in many ways along a student’s journey, the Brubaker’s support the Portola community.
