Plumas Arts is excited to announce the honeycomb collective art show, a community-centered art event debuting Feb. 7 at Plumas Arts Gallery in Quincy. Doors open at 5 p.m.
This exhibition aims to foster connection and creativity through art. It is is made up of over 145 hexagonal wooden canvases, each individually decorated by members of the community. Together the “honeycombs” form one giant art piece reflecting the talent, diversity and community spirit of Plumas.
The project is the brainchild of the new Plumas Arts team, which envisioned a show that brings people together regardless of skill level or background. “Art is an incredible medium for connection. No matter our background or perceived differences, we can all come together and enjoy beauty,” said Executive Director Christopher Rouse Islas Hernandez.

“When the combs started coming in, I was in awe of the talent around us. It’s inspiring. We hope to make this an annual event and eventually take it countywide, but there’s still work to do to get the message out that we are here for all communities,” he said.
The Honeycomb Collective Art Show will run from Feb. 7 through Feb. 28. The opening reception is part of the First Friday series, a monthly event hosted from February to December. Guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks while mingling with artists and art enthusiasts.
