Hospice volunteer training program Feb. 22

Plumas Community Hospice has announced a Feb. 22 hospice volunteer training, designed to provide compassionate individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide comfort and support to patients and families facing end-of-life care. The free training, titled Hospice Care 101, will take place at the Quincy Library Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be led by Kate McDonald, a registered nurse and hospice nurse with over 30 years of experience.

No prior experience is necessary—just a caring heart and a willingness to help.

“Plumas Community Hospice is about providing quality hospice care while navigating our rural community challenges. We need additional volunteers to join the group to provide care county-wide.”, said Susan DeLano, Plumas Community Hospice director. “This training is open to anyone interested in learning how to care for someone at the end of life; you do not need to commit to being a volunteer. First, come and learn, and then decide to become a volunteer.”

Plumas Community Hospice is a nonprofit organization that provides compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals facing terminal illness. With a team of volunteers connected to skilled professionals, it offers hospice services focusing on comfort, dignity, and respect for every patient and their family.

Interested people should sign up by Feb. 15 or learn more by contacting Susan Delano at 530-394-7228. Additional information is available at [email protected].
