Soroptimist International of Quincy, an international volunteer organization, is seeking applicants for its Violet Richardson Community Service Award.
The service award is named after Violet Richardson, the founder and president of the first Soroptimist Club in 1921, who strongly believed in personal responsibility and volunteer action. Soroptimist believes recognizing young students’ community service now will encourage them to become vital, active members of their communities as adults.
The Soroptimist recognition award of $250 is available to high school students, grades 9-12, at Quincy High School, Plumas Charter Quincy Learning Center, and Portola High School. Applications are available from each high school counselor or by email to Sue Gutierrez. The deadline for applications is March 4.
