Loren H. Barnes, 59, of Reno, Nevada, passed away suddenly Feb. 22, 2025, as a result of heart failure. Loren was born to Warner and Claudia Barnes April 13, 1965, in Loyalton, California.
In Loren’s youth, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all aspects of ranch life while living in Sierra Valley. He was active in 4-H and FFA. He graduated from Loyalton High School and Yuba College, with a degree in agriculture.
Loren had various occupations, from ranching to being a long-haul truck driver, visiting and passing through many states, sometimes from Salinas Valley delivering produce to New York.
Staying close to home, he was employed by Greens Feed in Reno for nearly 20 years. Due to failing health, he did part-time work the past several years. He enjoyed and got along well with all livestock: cattle, horses and household pets.
Loren was preceded in death by his father, Warner Barnes. Loren will be missed. He is survived by his mother, Claudia; sisters Camille (Patrick) Leonhardt and Jill Barnes; and niece Emily and nephew Geoffrey.
Private services will be held at a later date.
