Feather River College reports that it welcomed a peer review team visit Feb. 20 from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges as part of the college’s regular comprehensive review cycle. “This important visit capped a multiyear campuswide effort to reaffirm FRC’s accreditation, building on our previous review in 2018,” said Nick Maffei, FRC director of marketing, communications and outreach.
Maffei shared that the accreditation team was “notably impressed” by the extraordinary commitment of the entire campus community to student success, as documented in FRC’s comprehensive institution self-evaluation report. During their visit, team members highlighted the heartfelt dedication of faculty and staff, praising the authentic, personal connections made with students, and describing FRC’s culture as “uniquely impactful.”
The visiting team also commended FRC’s robust student employment program, which effectively links classroom learning with real-world workforce experience, said Maffei. The team encouraged the college to take pride in these efforts and continue its outstanding work in fostering student growth and career readiness.
Beyond academic excellence, the team emphasized the strong collaboration between FRC and the broader Quincy community, noting that the partnership goes beyond simply providing educational opportunities. The visiting members expressed genuine appreciation for the warm hospitality they received on campus and throughout Quincy, underscored by the stunning natural surroundings that make FRC a truly special place, said Maffei.
FRC Superintendent/President Kevin Trutna expressed his gratitude for everyone who contributed to the accreditation process, saying, “Feather River College is a remarkable institution because of the people who make it so. This visit affirmed what we already know — our commitment to students, our strong community partnerships and our beautiful setting create a truly exceptional learning environment.”
The accreditation team will finalize its report and submit it to the ACCJC, which will officially determine FRC’s accreditation status at its June meeting. FRC remains committed to providing high-quality education and meaningful student support, said Maffei.
