Plumas County announces it has applied for a ground operations grant this year. The county is seeking comments to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation group in order to receive the grant and continue providing safe, publicly available trails to the public, say organizers.
This grant is in partnership with Plumas National Forest and Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship. Organizers say the project will provide trail maintenance on 100 miles of motorized trails in the Plumas National Forest, including logging out downed trees, cutting brush and improving sight lines, fixing tread and improving turns, and building and maintaining armored creek crossings. This includes trails that were burned over in the Dixie Fire that require extra attention to remove hazardous trees and cut back on rapid brush regrowth.
Commenting instructions are as follows:
- Go to this page and click on the three dots button after Agency.
- Choose agency: Type in Plumas County and select Plumas County (not Public Works, Search & Rescue or Sheriff’s Office).
- Choose project: PNF Grounds Operations.
- Enter a comment.
Organizers report that comments can be brief or detailed. Comments will be accepted until May 6.
