The Feather River Land Trust announces a medicinal tea and honey infusion workshop Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center. Dana Galloway will show the group how to make herbal tea blends and infused honey with locally foraged plants. Space is limited to 25 students and open to all ages. Children 5 and older are welcome with an adult helper. The cost is $40 per person.
Participants will explore the following:
- Medicinal and spiritual properties of each plant and herb
- How to infuse foraged plants (pine, juniper or spruce) into honey
- How to mix teas, including plant selection, ratios/proportions, steeping and enjoying
If the plants are willing to be foraged, students will use them in their teas, said Galloway. If not, bulk herbs will be provided. Registration is available online.
The Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center was established as a hub for nature-based recreation and learning, said FRLT. The new nature center and facilities include interactive exhibits, new interpretive trails and picnic areas, and year-round educational programs and activities.
