The Plumas County Fire Safe Council and Plumas Children’s Council invite families to a fun and informative Wildfire Preparedness & Children’s Fair on May 17 at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds. “Join us for a day of fun, learning and community connection!” say organizers.
This free family-friendly event, happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is all about helping families stay aware and prepared while having a great time, says PCFSC. Fire professionals and local organizations will be on hand to provide wildfire preparedness tips, family resources and interactive activities that make learning about fire-adaptive communities engaging for all ages.
Event highlights include:
- Go-bag challenge: Families can put their skills to the test in creating the ultimate evacuation go-bag.
- Free food: Everyone is invited to grab a bite and connect with neighbors.
- Prizes and surprises: Giveaways and hands-on activities are planned for kids and adults alike.
- Wildfire preparedness and awareness: Participants can learn from experts how to safeguard their home and family.
- Family and community support: Local organizations will offer resources to help children and families thrive.
“Whether you’re a parent, grandparent or a community member who wants to be better prepared, this event is for you,” say organizers. “It’s a fun, relaxed setting where you can learn, connect and leave ready to take action in making your home and community more fire-resilient.”
