The Plumas-Sierra County Fair announces it is seeking applicants for the Sweetheart of the Mountains competition, a longtime beloved symbol in Plumas County. The Plumas-Sierra County Fair Foundation offers two scholarships, for $500 and $250, based on an essay discussing “why you should become involved in your county fair.”
The scholarship competition is open to young ladies and carries some duties, including greeting visitors at the fair and representing the Plumas-Sierra County Fair in the Fair Parade. Entrants must also agree to a code of conduct as a representative of the fair.
The deadline for returning applications is May 16. Applications can be found in each of the county high schools and at Feather River College. They are also available online at the fair website and the fair office at 204 Fairgrounds Road in Quincy.
