Almanor Foundation launches Plumas Audubon fund

The Almanor Foundation announces it is welcoming the Plumas Audubon Society as its newest sponsored fund. “Our foundation is proud to support the Audubon Society’s mission, which has been dedicated to protecting birds and their habitats for over 100 years,” said TAF.

TAF said every dollar raised through this fund contributes to impactful programs in science, advocacy, education and hands-on conservation efforts: “Together, we can ensure clean air, clean water, healthy ecosystems and a stable climate — not just for birds, but for all of us.”

Grebes are one focus of Plumas Audubon Society’s work.

TAF points out that Plumas Audubon makes a significant impact with programs like the Aechmophorus Grebe Project and PEEP: Plumas Environmental Education Program. The society’s signature event, the Grebe Festival, will take place this year Aug. 8 – 10 at Lake Almanor. The festival continues to attract locals and visitors alike, offering guided tours of the basin, engaging displays and a celebratory dinner honoring the grebes that nest in the many lakes of Plumas County.

The Almanor Foundation also serves as the fiscal sponsor for The Plumas Sun.
