The Plumas County Fire Safe Council announces the newest recipient in its Fire Safe Certificate of Recognition Program: Seneca Hamilton Branch Firewise lead Jan Davies. The recognition program identifies, and publicly acknowledges, outstanding fire safety accomplishments in Plumas County, and Davies is recognized for her “tremendous contribution to wildfire preparedness” through her work with the community and dedication to its welfare.
A personalized certificate was presented to Davies at the council’s April 10 meeting. Amber Hughes, PCFSC rural outreach coordinator and Firewise liaison, nominated Davies for this recognition and was supported by a subcommittee of the PCFSC board of directors.
Hughes cited Davies’ leadership, support and commitment, pointing out that her work as a Firewise lead is instrumental in ensuring that residents are informed, prepared and empowered to take action in the face of wildfire risks. Hughes called Davies “a true force for good” and “a Firewise superhero” who embodies a level of care and competence that elevates those around her.
“You have been a rock-solid force in supporting community members, building strong partnerships and working alongside fire professionals to create a safer, more fire-adapted future,” said Hughes. “Your ability to connect people, share knowledge and mobilize resources has not only made a tangible difference but has also fostered a sense of unity and purpose among those you serve. Our county is stronger, more prepared and more connected because of you.”
The Certificate of Recognition Program nomination process and guidelines are available online. The council will award a certificate of recognition will to any person, business or community that acted in a manner that helped to reduce the losses from wildfires.
