The Almanor Foundation reports that the 2021 Dixie Fire Implementation Strategy has been released by the Community Planning Assistance Team of the American Planning Association California Chapter. This report offers a comprehensive roadmap for rebuilding Greenville and Canyon Dam following the devastation of the Dixie Fire, and The Almanor Foundation is highlighted as a key partner.
Commissioned by the Plumas County Planning Department, the report provides practical guidance and outlines priorities to help the community implement its vision for recovery.
Building on previous efforts like the Greenville Town Center Design Guidebook and the Canyon Dam Summary Report, the strategy is organized around five guiding principles:
- Strengthening local governance and community capacity
- Achieving economic sustainability
- Addressing diverse housing needs
- Creating forward-thinking community design
- Streamlining planning and regulations
The report emphasizes the importance of strong partnerships and resource leveraging to meet these goals, said TAF, which is already actively engaged in developing workforce housing and community assistance programs. Suggested initiatives include first-time homebuyer programs, housing rehabilitation, workforce development and broader community benefit coordination. Collaborations with private and nonprofit sectors are also encouraged to strengthen grant applications and drive recovery efforts.
“With 43 recommendations, including 18 high-priority actions, this strategy provides a detailed framework for creating a sustainable and vibrant future for Greenville, Canyon Dam and the greater Indian Valley area,” said TAF. “Active involvement from organizations like TAF will be instrumental in transforming these plans into reality.”
Donations to TAF’s Attainable Workforce Housing Fund are tax-deductible. TAF also serves as the fiscal sponsor for The Plumas Sun.
