Community fundraiser brings color to downtown Quincy

Feather River College reports that Family Chalk Art Day — a fundraiser for its Child Development Center — is set for Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Quincy. The event is supported by the Feather River College Foundation.

The CDC is “selling” sidewalk squares on Quincy’s Main Street of Quincy to decorate with chalk art. Participants can check in at the intersection of Main and Harbison streets on May 3 and either purchase squares ahead of time online for $25 or on May 3 for $30. More information and online purchases are available at https://www.frc.edu/cdc/fundraisers.

After purchasing fundraiser squares, participants can decorate the squares with chalk art. Organizers encourage families, friends and businesses to create artwork as a team. They say the goal is to add a pop of color to downtown sidewalks and raise money for the CDC at that same time. Supplies will be available during the event, if needed.

Prizes will be awarded for most creative effort and best collaboration. All artwork must be positive and respectful; no political, intolerant or controversial creations will be allowed, say organizers.

FRC points out that the CDC is a vital part of local childcare offerings, and fundraiser events like this help to raise critical funds to help support the center and its staff.
