The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment announces it is hosting two upcoming community meetings — one in Quincy and one in Portola — focused on the Vibrant Planet platform. The Quincy meeting is set for today, May 6, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Plumas Unified School District office, 50 Church St. The Portola meeting is set for May 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Portola branch of the Plumas County Library, 34 Third Ave.
Organizers say Vibrant Planet is an interactive planning tool that brings together community members, landowners and agencies to make informed decisions about wildfire risk reduction. It helps identify priority areas for action based on what matters most to the local community and the landscape.
At these meetings, Sierra Institute will present planning scenarios for areas within the wildfire crisis strategy landscape and staff invite community input to help guide future actions. “Your input and local expertise are important to us, and we hope you can attend!” said organizers.
By attending, participants can:
- Explore collaborative solutions: See how different ideas and priorities can come together to build a safer, healthier forest and community.
- Gain valuable knowledge: Learn about new tools, strategies and resources to support wildfire prevention and forest health efforts.
- Get involved: Find out how they and their community can use Vibrant Planet to plan projects, coordinate efforts and shape the future of their local landscape.
Sierra Institute said it will provide access to the tool after the meeting for partners to explore different management scenarios in the WCS landscape.
