Quincy dentist presents webinar for dental specialists

Lost Sierra Dental reports that on May 21, Dr. Michael W. Herndon will be presenting a one-hour webinar for the International Association of Dental Specialists entitled “Periodontal Prosthesis: A Lost Art?”

IADS is an organization limited to dental specialists from around the world: dentists that are trained in and limit their practices to one area such as periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics and more. Herndon is unique in that he does not specialize in any one area but is recognized for treating all aspects of advanced cases in one office, as shown through careful and meticulous documentation, said Lost Sierra Dental. These cases involve the disciplines stated above.

Herndon is known locally for treating singer-songwriter Merle Haggard, who was referred to him by two prosthodontists, one from Auburn and one from San Francisco. The referring dentists had seen presentations by Herndon at the San Francisco Academy of Advanced Dental Education, of which he was a founding member. Herndon is a member of IADS and is also registered as an instructor for that association.

Herndon has practiced dentistry in Quincy for 42 years. Lost Sierra Dental points out that he is well known in the American Academy of Periodontology, having been a member of this prestigious organization for 37 years and very active on the private AAP forum. He has a certificate in implant assisted reconstructive dentistry, emphasizing periodontal prosthesis.

Herndon completed a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Departments of Advanced Periodontics and Periodontal Prosthesis, in 1993 and was awarded the title Amsterdam Fellow, named after Dr. Morton Amsterdam, arguably the father of interdisciplinary dental therapy.

Herndon practices with his daughter, Dr. Emily Luscri, at Lost Sierra Dental. “She is a wonderful dentist and I am so blessed to work with her,” he said. More information is available at https://lostsierradental.com/.
