The Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council, steward of the historic ranch at White Sulphur Springs, announces a new public event to be held inside the restored ranch house located at 2200 Highway 89 in Clio. It’s called Tavern Talk, and it’s scheduled for Saturday, June 14.
Organizers say Tavern Talk is an afternoon of local history storytelling. Attendees will learn how the property came to be and receive a look into the lives of the earliest pioneers through the “lurid tales of the gold camps and the trouble they invited.”
Tavern Talk begins at 5 p.m. with a complementary reception of wine, beer and light hors d’oeuvres. The program concludes at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased online. The ranch house can accommodate about 50 people so attendees are encouraged to obtain their tickets as soon as possible.
The availability of White Sulphur Springs Ranch for special events like Tavern Talk is part of MVSC’s commitment to develop the site for use by the community. A recent announcement offered the site as a wedding destination, which is a testament to the thousands of hours of work that volunteers have spent in improving the site, say organizers.
