Beauty Boss takes participants from stylist to CEO

Northern California Small Business Development Centers announces an upcoming webinar series called “Beauty and Barber Boss: Stylist to CEO,” set for Mondays, June 2 through July 14 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“Beauty Boss” is a no-cost, online training series that offers fundamental business education, resources and technical assistance to entrepreneurs looking to start or grow a cosmetology-related business — including hair, nail, makeup, barber and skincare — or launch a product line.

Organizers promise that participants will finish the program with the knowledge, tools and confidence to make their business a success. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate. Registration is available online.

Dates and topics are as follows:

June 2: “The Basics”

  • Types of barber and beauty services
  • Choosing a niche in the industry
  • Overview of legal matters, including entity types, business licenses and professional licenses
  • Commercial insurance
  • Business bank accounts
  • How to write a business plan

June 9: “Getting Started”

  • Overview of commercial leasing and negotiations
