May 7: Wednesday Playday

The Graeagle Men’s Golf Association reports that the Wednesday Playday was a great success as 37 players teed it up in the Green-Red-White Scramble. Each team was required to tee off from the green tees six times, the red tees six times and the white tees six times.

Each team was free to decide on which holes to apply the tee box requirements. Three drives were also required from each player during the course of play.

Players said the sunny 72-degree conditions and the beautifully manicured Graeagle Meadows course produced the following outstanding golf scores:

First place, with a score of 59:

  • Lance Raglen
  • Tim Leighton
  • Travis Humphreys
  • Tom Fregulia

Second place, with a score of 63:

  • Tony Gonzales
  • Bert Bellows
  • Kevin Comphel

Third place tie between two teams, with a score of 64:

  • Grant Mayfield
  • Nate Coats
  • Jeff Monaghan
  • Jim Oster
  • Mike Quesenberry
  • Mark Yuill
  • Roger Ashby

The club’s spring meeting was held prior to play with updates provided by the GMGA board members. Organizers said red ribbons were passed out to players in remembrance of GMGA members who have recently passed.

May 9: Friday Playday

Twenty-four Graeagle Men’s Golf Association players took to the Graeagle Meadows course on a sunny and warm Friday afternoon in a One Ball Odd and Two Ball Even game, plus skins.

The results are as follows:

  • First place: Tony Gonzales and Mike Simpson, 99
  • Second place: Corey Fanti and Jeff Monaghan, 101
  • Third place: Bert Bellows and Ray Neill, 102

Skins were awarded to the following players:

  • Jim Oster, with a 2 on the first hole and a 2 on the 10th hole
  • Chuck Hein, with a 2 on the third hole
  • Nate Coats, with a 2 on the fourth hole and a 3 on the 17th hole
  • Dan Anderson, with a 2 on the sixth hole
  • Mike Heath, with a 1 on the 12th hole

Organizers shared the interesting note that one of the club’s youngest players, Nate Coats, and one of its oldest players, Jim Oster, each won two skins during this Friday competition: “Way to go, men!”
