The Rotary Club of Quincy announces it is seeking two Quincy 11th graders to join the Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening camp in June. Attendance for these youths is supported by two fully paid scholarships provided by the generosity of the men and women of Quincy Rotary.
This year’s RYLA will be held at the Grizzly Creek Ranch educational retreat near Portola. Two camps will be held:
- Camp 1: Sunday, June 15, through Friday, June 20
- Camp 2: Sunday, June 22, through Friday, June 27
Organizers describe RYLA as an “intense and incredibly challenging program designed to engender passion, resilience, determination, mental toughness, gratitude and compassion.” In addition, the program aims to instill in participants the value of service above self, a core Rotary belief.

Participants also have the opportunity to participate in a character-building program provided by the Grizzly Creek Ranch Ropes Course, which focuses on leadership, effective communication, trust and cooperation. Utilizing adventure, personal commitments and shared insights, participants gain an increased sense of confidence in themselves and in their team, say organizers.
RYLA is sponsored by Rotary District 5180 of Northern California and Rotary District 5190 of Northern Nevada.
