Cal Fire suspends burn permits temporarily this weekend

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reports that the Cal Fire Lassen Modoc Unit chief has temporarily suspended all burn permits for Lassen, Plumas and Modoc counties beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, May 30. This suspension will remain in effect until Monday, June 2. No burning will be allowed for the duration of the suspension.

Everyone should make sure all previously burned debris piles are cold to the touch. The suspension is the result of forecasted red flag conditions that will persist throughout the region.

Cal Fire reminds everyone to always call 530-251-4403 prior to burning to determine burn day status.

The suspension of burn permits for residential landscape debris does not apply to campfires within organized campgrounds or on private property. Campfires may be permitted if the campfire is maintained in such a manner as to prevent its spread to the wildland, said Cal Fire. A valid campfire permit is required and can be obtained online at http://www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
