Lost Sierra Food Project announces an upcoming bread workshop led by instructor Victoria Vajgrt Thursday, June 12, at the Rugged Roots Farm outdoor classroom. From 5:30 to 7 p.m., participants will learn about sourdough and how to make their first loaf of sourdough bread with organic flour and local sourdough starter.
This class focuses on the process, from feeding a starter and mixing the dough to shaping a beautiful loaf to take home.
Participants will leave with:
- A shaped, rising sourdough loaf ready to proof and bake at home
- A jar of healthy starter with instructions to keep it going
- A printed guide with step-by-step instructions and baking tips
- A deeper understanding of the textures, timing and touch of sourdough
Organizers ask participants to bring the following items from their kitchen if possible:
- A heavy mixing bowl at least 3 quarts in size
- A digital kitchen scale
- A clean dish towel
- A thin spatula or dough whisk
- An apron
The workshop is designed for beginners or anyone wanting to reconnect with the roots of handmade bread. This workshop is part of Lost Sierra Food Project’s free summer workshop series, supported by the Feather River Community Fund and small donors.
An RSVP is required; a total of 10 spots are available.
