Let’s Go Birding Together offers inclusive experience

Plumas Audubon Society welcomes the community to a Let’s Go Birding Together bird walk Saturday, June 14, 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center.

Organizers say this marks the organization’s fifth year of celebrating Pride Month with Let’s Go Birding Together bird walks, which are designed for everyone who loves birds and the outdoors.

“We welcome those who identify as LGBTQ, allies, families and anyone who wants to enjoy an outdoor experience that is inclusive,” says Plumas Audubon. “Why do we do this? Because the outdoors has not always been a welcoming place for LGBTQ people and Audubon wants to help change that.”

Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite bird or in their most colorful Pride plumage for a chance to win the best costume prize.
