Three programs offer free state park access

The Office of Sen. Megan Dahle announces that California offers several programs to help residents access state parks at no charge, allowing them to enjoy the outdoors without added cost.

The California State Park Adventure Pass for Fourth Graders provides fourth graders and their families free entry to 54 state parks for a full school year. This program opens the door to hands-on learning and outdoor exploration, said Dahle’s office.

Any California resident with a library card can check out a California State Library Parks Pass‚ which offers free vehicle day-use entry to over 200 participating parks. Passes are available at public libraries throughout the state‚ including mobile libraries.

The Golden Bear Pass offers free vehicle day-use access to more than 200 state parks for eligible CalWORKs and tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families recipients. Dahle’s office says the updated application process makes it easier for families to enjoy the benefits of California’s public lands.

“I hope you and your family are able to take advantage of these opportunities and enjoy a safe and memorable summer,” said Dahle.
