Volunteers needed for Chester Fourth of July Fun Run

The Almanor Recreation and Park District reports it needs volunteers to help with the 44th annual Chester Fourth of July Fun Run. Organizers thank community members for their time and effort, which make the event possible.

Organizers will bring back last year’s format: a short 1-mile dash down Main Street just prior to the parade, beginning at the Collins Pine Lawn and ending at the Bidwell House Gardens. ARPD is seeking volunteers for this year’s event in the following areas:

  • Those with a truck and trailer who can transport gear to the start/finish. Several one-hour options are available.
  • July 3 registration at Bodfish Bicycles from 1 to 5 p.m., or some portion of that time.
  • Morning registration July 4 at the Collins Pine Lawn to help registrants, process preregistered runners and hand out T-shirts. Starts at 7:30 a.m. and done by 9:30.
  • Finish line assistance at the Bidwell House with refreshments and takedown. These volunteers get a bird’s-eye view of runners coming down Main Street. Starts at 8 a.m. and done by 10.

Those interested can contact Susan Espana at [email protected] or call the ARPD office at 530-258-2562.
