All welcome to Fourth of July parade, potluck picnic

The Meadow Valley Fire Department invites the public to its Fourth of July parade and potluck picnic on Friday, July 4. The celebration begins with a parade through Meadow Valley starting at 11 a.m., with a potluck picnic at the fire station immediately following. MVFD supplies barbecued hot dogs and beverages and asks attendees to bring a side dish, salad or dessert for the community potluck.

Organizers say this annual Fourth of July tradition started with a resident organizing a small parade through the Pineleaf subdivision over 25 years ago. Over time, the event evolved into a parade and potluck fundraiser for the fire department.

“This event is not just for Meadow Valley residents,” said Heather Alexander, MVFD lead support team member. “We welcome all to participate.” Alexander points out that anyone can enter the parade with floats, vehicles, horses, music/bands, bicycles and more: “We love seeing them all.” Parade entries stage behind the fire station on Bucks Lake Road no later than 10:30 a.m.

Questions can be sent through the MVFD Facebook page or via email at [email protected].
