Annual Graeagle celebration includes festival, fireworks

The Graeagle Independence Day Committee, a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering community spirit, announces it is hosting its annual Independence Day celebration from July 4 to 6 in downtown Graeagle.

Organizers say this family-friendly event will feature live music, a cornhole tournament, food, vendors, games for all ages, a patriotic parade and a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

On Friday, July 4, the Don Clark Kick-Off Concert features live music by the band Decoy from 5 to 9 p.m. Attendees can bring a chair and picnic dinner and get ready to dance. At 6 p.m., the Nevada Gunfighters Theatrical Troupe performs at 6 p.m. in Herb Rowe Park.

On Saturday, July 5, a cornhole tournament is set for Herb Rowe Park. Check-ins and warmups start at 8 a.m., with competition from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., all are invited to Fill the Boot, a downtown Graeagle firework fundraiser.

Saturday features an old-fashioned day in the park with food, drinks and treats at Herb Rowe Park and at the Mill Pond. The Nevada Gunfighters perform shows at Graeagle Village Center at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Civil War re-enactors fight battles in the meadow on Blairsden/Graeagle Road at noon and 3 p.m.

The Danny Horton Trio plays music from 6 to 9 p.m., followed by fireworks at dusk.

Sunday, July 7, starts with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Graeagle Fire Hall. The Nevada Gunfighters return to the Graeagle Village Center for a 10 a.m. show. Neighbors Band plays from 10 to 11 a.m. at Herb Rowe Park. A bounce house will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 11 a.m., a parade winds through downtown Graeagle, followed by a car show at Graeagle Village Center from 1 to 2 p.m. and another old-fashioned day in the park at Herb Rowe Park.

The Graeagle Independence Day Committee is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) organization run by a volunteer board of community members and business owners dedicated to continuing this Independence Day tradition. The groups is 100% donation funded and volunteer powered. The committee seeks volunteers, and asks anyone interested in supporting the Independence Day events to consider donating time over the weekend. The group can be reached via [email protected].
