Two local groups provide community supper in Quincy

Everyone welcome to next free meal July 9

Quincy Community Supper announces that two local groups recently served the free meal open to all at the Community United Methodist Church.

The Lost Sierra Food Project hosted the community supper June 25, serving Mediterranean wraps and a summer garden salad. Many of the ingredients came from the organization’s Rugged Roots Farm in Quincy.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars hosted the May 28 community supper, which consisted of smoked shredded pork sandwiches with chili beans, potato salad and green salad. Volunteers plated 117 suppers.

The Quincy Community Supper offers a meal with no charge the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Methodist church, 282 Jackson St. Serving the community since 2002, the supper is hosted by a rotating list of businesses, churches, service organizations, schools and offices.

The next supper will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 6 p.m. Limited takeout is available at 6:30. Organizers invite everyone for food and fellowship.

Questions regarding the supper, donations or signing up to volunteer may be directed to Angela Elliott at 530-283-1478.
