Lynette Alice Kempton

Dec. 6, 1939 – May 18, 2025

Lynette Alice Kempton passed away peacefully at home in San Diego, California, May 18, 2025, after bravely living out the final days of her life with cancer. She was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Douglas, Wyoming, where she spent her early years before moving with her family to San Diego.

Eventually, Lynette lived in Quincy, California, where she and Joseph Lee Kempton, her husband of 49½ years, raised their five children. Together, Joe and Lynette poured into their small community through church service and caring for their neighbors. They touched the lives of many in profound ways, all for the glory of their Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Lynette enjoyed a simple life and she found something to appreciate about everyone she knew. Her kind, honest words of wisdom have been appreciated by many. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was very devoted to her family. Her deep and real faith in God’s trustworthiness and goodness will be remembered by all who have known her. In humility, she lived life simply, gratefully, and bravely to the very end. Although Lynette is no longer present with us on Earth, she will live in our hearts forever.

She is survived by her children: Kelly Wheaton (Jim), Kris Cordell (Tom), Kori Kempton, Karyn Kempton, Joseph Kempton Jr. (Brandi); her 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Kempton.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held to honor Lynette on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 12 – 2 p.m. at Meadow Valley Community Church. All are welcome as we celebrate Lynette’s life.
