Road construction in all directions

Caltrans District 2 and Pacific Gas and Electric Company have multiple projects currently underway on various highways throughout Plumas County and surrounding areas, reports Caltrans District 2. “North Region Construction, PG&E, our contractor partners, and Caltrans District 2 thank the public and local communities for their patience during the construction of these projects,” the district said in a press release..

The current list of major Caltrans projects in Plumas County and surrounding areas includes:

Crescent Mills Left Turn Lane Project (Plumas):

  • Location: Along SR 89, near Crescent Mills.
  • Delay: 12 minutes.
  • Schedule: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • Note: Starting July 28, construction operations will shift to night work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday nights-Saturday mornings. Intermittent flagging operations will happen during the day.

Almanor West Rehab (Plumas):

  • Location: Along SR 89, near Canyon Dam from just north of the Lake Almanor Spillway to SR 36.
  • Delay: 14 minutes.
  • Schedule: 24/7 traffic control.

Chester Causeway Rehab (Plumas/Lassen):

  • Location: Along SR 36, east of County Rd A-13.
  • Delay: 30 minutes.
  • Schedule: 6 a.m to 7 p.m Mondays – Saturdays.
  • Note: Sections of unpaved roadway.

Fredonyer Emergency Fault Repairs (Lassen):

  • Location: SR 36, just east of Fredonyer Summit.
  • Delay: 10 minutes.
  • Schedule: 24/7 traffic control via temporary traffic signal.
  • Note: Unpaved surface.

Devil’s Corral Safety (Lassen):

  • Location: SR 36, 2 miles west of junction with SR 44 to 2 miles east of Fredonyer Summit.
  • Delay: 15 minutes.
  • Schedule: Mondays – Fridays between 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Cromberg Combined Rehab (Two closures – Plumas):

  • Locations: 1– SR 70, east of junction with SR 89 to Mohawk Road; 2– Mt. Tomba Road to Camp Layman Road.
  • Delay: 30 minutes delays total for project area.
  • Schedule: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Mondays – Thursdays.
  • Note: In August, work is planned to shift to one closure, from Bixler Road near Cromberg to east of Cromberg near Parkers Road. Delays currently planned for 20-25 minutes, Mondays – Thursdays between 6 a.m. – 6 p.m., when work shifts to this location.

Beckwourth CAPM (Plumas):

  • Location: Along SR 70 near Portola west of Big Grizzly Creek Bridge to west of Summit School Drive.
  • Delays: 10 minute delays.
  • Schedule: 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays – Thursdays; 6:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Fridays.

Greenville WYE TMS Elements (Plumas): Upcoming project on SR 70 and 89 at various locations near the Greenville Wye. Projected start is early August. Mostly shoulder closures with lane closures at times. Minimal delays expected.

Bucks Creek 1101:

  • LocationSR 70, east of the Butte/Plumas County Line to west of Storrie – continued operations at various locations through this fall.
  • Delays: 15 minutes
  • Schedule: Mondays – Fridays between 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Bucks Creek 1102: 

  • Location: SR 70, west of Storrie to east of Caribou Road – continued operations at various locations through this fall.
  • Delays: 15 minutes.
  • Schedule: Mondays – Fridays between 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Gansner: 

  • LocationSR 70, between the Greenville Wye (junction with SR 89/70) and Keddie.
  • Schedule: Roadway restorations currently anticipated for late July, during daytime hours.
  • Delays: 15 minutes.

Crescent Mills (Permit work): 

  • LocationSR 89, between Greenville and the Greenville Grade – Currently in construction through early fall.
  • Delays: lane closures currently included within the Crescent Mills LTL Combine.

Greenville (Permit work): 

  • LocationSR 89, south of Greenville Dump Road to east of Standard Mine Road – construction underway with majority of work on shoulders and no traffic impacts.
  • Delays: traffic control at times as needed, with up to 15-minute delays.
  • Schedule: Mondays – Fridays during daytimes hours.
