Feather River College recently received an eight-year reaffirmation of accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. The commission held a meeting in June to review the material submitted by FRC, along with the report from the peer review team that visited the FRC campus in February.
The purpose of this important review process was to determine whether the college continues to meet ACCJC’s eligibility requirements, commission policies, and accreditation standards. Upon consideration of the written information and reports noted above, the commission acted to reaffirm accreditation for eight more years. This is great news for FRC, its staff, and most importantly, the students it serves.
Kevin Trutna, superintendent and president of the college, said, “FRC is very proud of the recent accreditation action, earning the full eight-year renewal without any findings or recommendations. This new status assures the public of the quality education at Feather River College. The result is a testimony to the dedicated employees, students, and community who provide this high quality of education.”
In addition to the reaffirmation of accreditation, FRC received a commendation for a robust student employment program. Carlie McCarthy, vice president of student services, commented on the commendation: “We are honored to receive this commendation, which reflects our commitment to student success by investing in student employment opportunities, allowing students to gain meaningful work experience within their program of study, build transferable skills and earn a paycheck as they work toward their educational and career goals.”
Registration for the fall 2025 semester is open. FRC encourages any locals to take advantage of the Plumas Pipeline, which offers a free college education to qualifying Plumas locals. Learn more on the FRC website.
