The Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council announces an upcoming Community Thank You and ’80s Dance Party set for Aug. 24. Gates open at 5 p.m. and music begins at 6 and plays until 8. Organizers say this is a family-friendly event and attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs. No pets are allowed.
Live music will be provided by New Wave Crave, an ’80s tribute band that was voted best band in Northern Nevada last year by Reno News & Review.
The event also includes food available from food trucks serving dinner and dessert, and beer and wine sold by stewardship council volunteers.
Tickets cost $10, and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at http://www.WhiteSulphurSpringsRanch.com.
Organizers offer “a big thank-you to our community” for making this year’s annual White Sulphur Springs rummage sale “successful beyond all expectations.” Community members donated a wide range of goods including antiques, tools, kitchenware, cabin décor, camping gear and more. The council reports that buyers came from all over the state and beyond to snatch up treasures and give generously to the cause.
“An intangible but equally important benefit to the Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council’s efforts to rehabilitate the site was the exposure that so many new visitors had to the old ranch house and grounds,” said volunteers. Visitors were able to watch the action as the new Americans with Disabilities Act pathway was being constructed, connecting the parking area to the amphitheater. Organizers said many guests complimented the look of the new paved seating area in front of the stage and other site improvements all completed in the last few months.
White Sulphur Springs Ranch is located at 2200 Highway 89, overlooking Mohawk Valley.
