Fire Sirens shop open for season, seeking volunteers

The Fire Sirens Thrift Shop, which supports Peninsula Fire, announces that it is currently open for shopping Wednesdays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. These hours will be in effect through November, weather permitting.

The Fire Sirens Thrift Shop was established in 1962. It is located next to Fire Station No. 2 at 801 Golf Club Road in Lake Almanor Country Club. Volunteers ask that the community use the Clifford Drive Gate for entrance.

The volunteer-run store sells high-quality items at affordable prices, say volunteers. All proceeds go directly to supplying equipment, education, medical devices and more to the Peninsula Fire Protection District.

Donations are accepted on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and noon.

Store specials include $5 bag sales and parking lot sales on Memorial Day and Labor Day.

For those who would like to be involved behind the scenes, membership meetings are held the first Friday of the month, 10 a.m. at Firehall No. 2. In addition, organizers say they are always looking for volunteers. Any homeowner within the Lake Almanor Basin is invited to stop by and pick up a volunteer application in the shop, or email [email protected].

More information about the shop, including current items for sale, is available on Facebook.
