Main Street Artists Gallery in Quincy announces its September exhibition, “Just Looking Around,” featuring the work of photographer Betty Bishop and visual artist Debbie Kercmar Boyd.
Chester native Betty Bishop is a self-taught photographer who captures the natural beauty of Northern California and the transformations brought about by nature’s force. From the abstract hues of a wind-rippled pond to the serene stillness of a snowy winter field, Bishop’s work seeks to share the emotional clarity she experiences when looking through the viewfinder.

Debbie Kercmar Boyd’s artistic journey has evolved over the past five years, transitioning from realistic acrylics to fluid watercolor florals, then to expressive animal portraits in watercolor and, most recently, to bold and textured oil paintings. Her use of sweeping brushstrokes and palette knife techniques infuses her work with movement and vitality.
Organizers say Boyd’s art is deeply rooted in emotional connection, especially through the eyes of the animals she paints — windows to the soul that offer viewers a powerful sense of presence and spirit. Featured pieces such as “Trinity of the Wild” and “Bearers of the Land” highlight Boyd’s focus on the quiet strength and enduring essence of wildlife, offering moments of connection that transcend the canvas.
A reception for the artists will be held Friday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Main Street Artists Gallery, 436 Main St. in Quincy. The public is invited to attend and enjoy an evening of art, conversation, wine and appetizers.
